The 7th track has 6.02dB gain and impossible to change it [resolved]

I have a very strange issue … it seems like it’s since Cubase 15 pro version.

In all my project, the 7th track has always blocked on 6.02 dB of volume I tried everything I thought it was an automation hidden point etc … but not and if I delete this track the next one which becomes the 7th has the same issue.

I tried to remove preference and it solved the issue => I rebuild some templates and now these template again has the 7th track at 6.02 dB !!! if I click with CTRL touch on the PC keyboards the volume recover automatically at 6.02d (see little video) …

It’s not my controllers (Qcon Icon pro G2) because when they are deactivated I have the same issue …

I tried to uninstall and reinstall Cubase but unsuccessfull I retrieve this issue.

I’m on win11 pro - Cubase pro 15.

Hi,
this issue seems to be rooted in corrupt preferences as you have successfully identified.
Please, try to rename not only Cubase 15’s preference folder but also the previous preference folders (Cubase 12, 13, 14). This way, the corrupt preference can’t be resurrected if you relaunch Cubase. Otherwise, Cubase will look at previous pref folders and migrate their content.

What kind of (other) remote do you use? Do I understand it correctly, that the MIDI Input is set to None?

Does it always apply to the 7th track or to the selected one?

To me it sounds like it has something to do with remote control. Be it MIDI Remote or a (Generic) Device in the Studio Setup.

Hi,

Do you use StreamDeck by any chance? Could you attach a screenshot of Studio > Studio Setup > MIDI Ports Setup, please?

Hi Martin and Johnny,

if the OP had not fixed the issue by setting back the preferences before I would not have suggested to go for a full preference folder reset reaching down to previous versions. I’m with you guys, this sort of behaviour sounds more like an issue with a remote device indeed and it
would be a first with regard to corrupted preferences. Let’s see if we can add another oddity to the list :thinking:

I , first, remove preference as said before => works nice.

  1. I introduce step by step my midi controllers =>
  • Qcon Icon pro G2 => still work fine without the issue.
  • Arturia keylab mkII 88 => issue !!! :open_mouth:

So it was clear that my master midi keyboard was the guilty !

Everybody told me that it’s in HUI mode that it has to be work, it seems like in the DAW default preset HUI (of the Arturia key) there is a problem.

I changed to MCU mode and in the Arturia ‘Midi control center’ Software I putted ‘Cubase’ mode

=> works fine without issue on the 7th track but global controls for the DAW (solo, mute, read, write, undo etc …) didn’t work, so I decided to build a MIDI remote in Cubase for my Arturia master keyboards for global controls and now all is working flawlessly :smiley:
