Using Melodyne Editor 5.4 (last) with Cubase, in a project where I need 2 bars befor start (so it starts à -1), the ARA 2 implementation in Cubase 15 still fails to compensate for the ‘Display Bar Offset’. My bar n in Cubase appears as n+1 in Melodyne.
This forces users to choose between a clean project start or a functional Melodyne workflow, which is unacceptable for a professional DAW in 2026.
I appreciate Cubase but this poor ARA problems have been here from such a long time….
Hey, @csurieux
Isn’t that a Melodyne issue?
Have you reached out to Celemony Support about this?
I think Steinberg and Celemony work well together and will definitely have a solution for a future Melodyne update.
I use Melodyne Studio 5.4.2.006 ARA and I’m also hoping for timeline improvements.
Well, I just discovered that Celemony has no more any forum for it’s products ![]()
But Yes I could try to contact their support.
But it is typically a ‘shared responsability’ where I could spent years with people saying ask the other side.
And I read here many threads complaining about the low level of ARA implementation in Cubase.
From the other side… ![]()
Yeah, I get that.
I’ve written to Celemony Support before about something else and was really surprised at how quickly and helpfully they responded to my inquiry.
I hope that ARA and third-party plugins will quickly agree on a standard (like VST3) among the ARAs ![]()
I am curious if the latest version of ARA2(you can find it on github with all changes/updates) fixes your issues. If I remember correctly, it was released right about the time Cubase 15 was released. I know Cubase is not using the latest version because its missing some feature that come along with Tonalic. Maybe the latest version of ARA2 fixes your issues?
I used Melodyne a lot myself, but I am not fully understanding what your saying and maybe I experience it, but just kind of work around it.
The problem I encouter is that an event starting on bar n in Cubase starts in Melodyne on bar n+1.
Thanks for info.
Thank you for this very helpful tip
I contacted Celemony and they answered that Melodyne’s ARA do not manage offset in Cubase project.

That’s BAD

Ok. Wondering what’s it like for example in Fender StudioPro, Reaper, ProTools, Cakewalk, Logic, MixCraft, Luna, etc, etc…?
Is Cubendo the only ‘bad boy’ here.?
Is it possible you can show a screengrab or two please.? With a before/after using ‘Display Bar Offset’ function.? Again, curious how other DAW’s (and their ARA support) cope with similar…
Just try it : create a new project with 2 bars offset and start at -1, the add an audio track and attach melodyne extension an look at the cursors in cubase and melodyne. 3 minutes.
From what I understand in their answer, cubase is not the ‘bad boy’ as other daws, even The Fender studio, do not offer this option of project offset. But I don’t know fender Studio or others.
This seems to imply that ARA2 is implemented in Cubase 10 and up. Maybe that was during maintenance updates, but it doesn’t seem as though a trip to Github is necessary

I have Spectralayer 12, so ARA2 should be installed.
And Celemony told they don’t manage offset.
