the best connection for an alesis q61?

hi,

i´m just an recording-noob, which has bought:
cubase artist 8
ur22
alesis q61.

i´ve installed the software properly and it works fine.
after all i connected the alesis via usb-cable with the pc…
but now i got a real bad (slow) latency.

so here is my question:
what is the best/right connection for an alesis q61?

  • via usb into the pc?
  • via midi into “midi in” at the ur22?

if there is a MIDI in / out always use that.
