Please consider sending out an email to all Nuendo users.
If I can make only one request it will not be a feature-request.
I would suggest to use the next version as the last one in its string of backwards comptatibility (since Nuendo 1.0 I guess).
That is, decide that Nuendo 15 won’t create project files that can be opened with older versions. Possibly not even allow projects from N1 to N14 to be opened in N15.
Just like Cubase changed from .all to .cpr.
This would give you guys the opportunity to fix and add all the items that you currently can’t address because of backwards comptatibility.
It will have been more than 25 years. It might be time to cut some ties to the past.
It’d be a bold move but imagine the freedom that that would bring to you guys.
To soften the blow there should be a stand-alone, free of charge converter tool, that converts old project files to the new version.
Hi Byron / @48kHz,
great list. Wonder if anyone here would agree that it might be appropriate to also ask for…
- gap-less audio - for even more immersion / convenience while editing during playback, at least when changing insert / send plug-ins (also in Cubase). Even if this specific request might not be seen as first priority by quite a few regular users.
And:
- b (sic!) regarding Media Bay: an option to save a user’s specific set of columns and manually set filters, also as a user’s default preset (including free preset file naming, like it’s already possible for many other preset types). Might really save valuable config time while using *.vstsound related content, including own sample libraries (Foley, etc.). This would of course be a “meta” request, since not only Cubase / Nuendo would be concerned.
Greetings to all,
Markus
Great list of what would be very useful features, I soon almost all of them.
Great idea!
Along, with lack of Automation editing in V13, I would say, if there was a way to stop plug-in’s effecting muted channels, then I would support this all the way since having to press Stop, just to change a plug-in, is so last decade!
FR: Enable us to “create new from template” or “backup project” to an existing project folder structure. Currently Nuendo blocks us and says “This folder should be empty…”
This is an option that would solve many issues with people who’d like to change project root folder and audio pool record folders to an existing folder structure (eg when you have an evolving template)
It can warn us that its not empty, but let us designate it as root regardless and not delete, move or rename existing media during that process. Simply just assuming the new folder assignments in Project settings
Surely this would be easy to implement?
When this is implemented, please fix the bug with the offline effects:
If you use plugins like reverb or delay as an offline effect Nuendo renders the offline effect sometimes only on half of the object or strange things like that.
Hi, I am wondering what you guys define as “proper” clip gain? I actually come prior from the world of other DAWs, having come up in PT, switched to Ableton Live for awhile, Logic, then over to Cubase and finally Nuendo once I started getting into post sound a bit more.
So having used these other DAWs, I am not sure how their clip gain would be superior. PT’s is fairly nice but it’s not radically different from my experience. I actually think Logic’s approach to clip gain is atrocious, and they actually only recently added a separate way to do it, yet you have to dig into this option menu for a separate “clip gain tool” which is ridiculous… at least in Nuendo you can literally drag the gain up or down right on the clip using a normal cursor. Seems pretty ‘proper’ to me but please enlighten me what you have in mind!
Beat Calculator is gone from Nuendo 13?! Man that’s a bummer… I’m still on 12 and have been hesitant to make the jump. Things like this while small, does not help my decision.
It is there in 13 just implemented differently, notice I didn’t say in a better way.
I’ve always wondered what that means too. I have no problem using clip gain nor do I have any problems using ripple edit or “shuffle” as Nuendo calls it.
Enjoy this long thread / discussion / argument? about this topic: Please, Steinberg, a real clip gain! - actually “event based volume envelope” - Nuendo - Steinberg Forums
What is there is “tap tempo”. The actual Beat Calculator is gone.
Just filled the survey, I’ve asked for the gapeless audio engine.
Please.
Bring back the old beat calculator!
Our chief request: full integration [ie. track following] with a small controller. We especially want transport, channel strip, and editing buttons. If you aren’t going to make a new CC121, make a deal with Softube or SSL and get their hardware to work seamlessly with Nuendo.
-
Professional clip gain. Announced for N14.
-
A general option (rather than a lock that always has to be redone) for the VST Panner to follow tracks in the same way as the Channel Parameters window.
-
An information window listing locked events and tracks throughout the project, and allowing central locking/unlocking. Alternatively, a message indicating locks when inserting a silence or casting an interval.
-
An indication that clearly differentiates between ordinary Sends and Sends from side-chains. This could be an applicable color.
-
The presence of folders in the Mixconsole, with the ability to open and close them.
-
The ability to move tracks from the Mixconsole. Announced for N14.
-
The ability to lock a track’s height so that it does not follow general zooms.
-
Track delay according to ryhmic values.
Update :
-
Add undo/redo arrows to the VST Panner window.
-
Allocate more Loudness tracks (is this possible?). Personally, I’d like to have one on every Dolby Atmos bed.
Update 2
- An option to hide the grid at will. For the moment, if you don’t want to see it, you have to set it to the same color as the background. That’s a bit time-consuming. It should be hidden or made to appear with one click.
IOW: Bring back the Project Browser.
Isn’t it too late, in a few weeks we may see 14.
Yesterday we were discussing that Nuendo needs a new small room reverb creator tool with finer control on ER than Cinematic Rooms. I literally had to reach out for the old INA GRM delay and construct one, also ended up pulling their doppler to recreate boomerang effect, but GRM may be dying and it is not easy to supplement their tools.
