The tenuto articulation mark on a USA Windows 11 desktop keyboard

I’m at the point in my big band arrangement where I am adding all of the articulations into the score, and there are a lot of these articulations to add! I was doing very well until I needed the “Tenuto” articulation. On my keyboard of you use the keyboard (#) it doesn’t function correctly. Used by itself # it messes up the rhythm of a measure, drastically. I did find by adding the Shift key + #/3key it works correctly. All of the other articulations only require one key to install. Is it possible to get the operation of the quick key back to just using the # key, as I know you can change the key functions to custom settings. It would be nice to have all of the articulations operating off a single key without need of a Shift, CTRL, or ALT key for an easier and simpler workflow? BTW, the mass copy process in Dorico works very nice. I just do the CTRL C, select the first notes of the other 9 brass parts, go to EDIT and go down to PASTE SPECIAL, and a whole lot of other parts get articulations added!

Thanks, again, for your suggestions.

Well, on a US keyboard, there is no # key – to get that symbol (and the tenuto articulation), you press Shift+3. (3 on its own changes the duration of the selected note, just like the other number keys.)

You can go to Preferences > Key Commands, search for Tenuto, remove the existing shortcut key, and add whatever shortcut key you want. Dorico will even warn you if you try to assign a key that’s already assigned to a different command.
