The Zoomed-In Area Unwantedly Shifts to the Left

Could I kindly request some assistance with the zoom selection?

At present, after selecting a frequency range in the full file, the zoomed-in area unexpectedly shifts to the left. It would be most helpful if it remained in place. I would be very grateful to know whether I am making an error, or if there is a way to prevent this behaviour.

Many thanks in advance.

that is by design afaiaa. You likely need to use a different selection tool, rectangular, for example

Yes, +1 for correcting this behavior. This is a major pain in the a**. Just let the zoom as it was. Just because we are using the frequency range that doesn’t mean we want to zoom out, specially because when in ARA mode that means zooming out to the START OF THE TIMELINE. It drives me nuts!!

Weird …

Doing a quick test, I noticed that apparently the setting Transport → Scrolling → Page or Continuous is responsible for this behavior. Most likely because creating a selection will move the playhead to the selection start, and with either setting it auto-scrolls to that position.

Using Transport → Scrolling → None will not change the window position. As I always set this as my default transport setting in the Preferences, I never had this … issue.

I just seldom if ever use this tool
