In live sound we do it a long time ago (even easier with digit audio desks)…
Would it technically be possible allow SENDx sent before even the INSERT slots (similarly to pre-fader toggle)? Cubase has +post-fader SENDx but as we have 4insert-slots in STACKS… I could send barely/none processed to IEM… at ChSend.
I know, currently a +GRP would do something similar, but it’s a new group in channel-view instead of a cleaner view and approach.
Does that “dupl.-input-for-raw-iem” method common to any of you guys/users? @musicullum ?
When needed, I just duplicate the stack at the source and put no fx/inserts, and send this to iem instead of the main stack.
Used this to send vocals not autotuned (but EQed for inear, and with reverb and delay if needed I can arrange a completely independent signal chain) to iem of the singer, while all the others iems and foh receive the processed one!
Just make another stack, same input connections, parallel routes!
Ciro, I think you know me enough to belive I can and could do it in different ways… In addition I can even do it via my UAD console (send any input to IEM outputs directly)
I had a theoretichal question if the thing “Pre-Insert-SENDx-toggle” theoretically possible to implement into VSTLive. That might save all the workarounds by tricking with the code
Meanwhile duplicating “input” gives further possiblilties, I still wonder why DAW’s generally don’t do such pre-insert “SENDx-mode”, there must be a reson for sure, meanwile duplicating in live environment is a common practice.
