Thinking of building a cubase/vienna box

Hey guys, my old computer is now starting to show its age, and I recently had an SSD die, so I think it’s time to build a new. however I don’t know what the new tech really looks like and demands. So I’d love to ask your advice about a build I’m considering. I’m not tech-averse, but I do hate sifting through drivers.

the computer will be used mostly for Cubase/Vienna/Kontakt and some other plugs, little to no live recording, mostly using samples, need real time monitoring, and a bunch of guitar and amp simulators as well as mastering plugins waves/tracks)…

would love to know what y’all would recommend as a solid build. Processor/Memory/Mobo/Graphics card etc….

I generally run very large orchestral templates and have, until this point had two slave computers which I’d like to get rid of..

I’m hoping to have a budget of roughly 4-5k and want a system that can be up and running rather quickly.

if y’all don’t have any direct suggestions, maybe you can point me to a website or I can find those.

Hi BoZe, I build my first DAW some 36 years ago and must have build at least 5 following DAWS. Started with a master and 3 slave computers. I always bashed Mac DAWS for being redicilous expensive. But now the prices of Macs have gone down so much that after 36 years of being a dedicated PC users I switched to a Mac mini M4 DAW. I know… no more building and only one Windows slave computer which I hardly use. And guys believe me the difference is huge! So smooth, stable and powerful. Do yourself a favour and consider to make the switch like I did. Happy composing.

Best,

Willem
