Thinking of buying a new PC. Is the spec ok?

Hi,

I’m think of buying a new computer and of course Cubase Artist 8. (I’ve been running with Cubase 5 for years now). My old PC is dying rapidly and I wanted to get the forums views on my new proposed purchase.

In terms of spec I’m looking at:

MB: Intel 5820K Haswell-E 3.3GHz 6 Core 12 Threads
C:Drive and Sample Drive: Two SSD 500 GB SATA III
graphics Card: nVidia GTX 960 2GB
Add Drive: 1TB 7,200RPM £105.00 1 £105.00
RAM: 32GB DDR4 (4x8GB) 2400MHz

I already have:

Steinberg MR816 CSX
CC121 Controller
UAD Quad Card
VST’s: Kompelte; Nexus; Gladiator and a few others.

So my questions are:

  1. From your experience will the above spec by good enough to run Cubase 8 and these VST’s without issue?
  2. Is 32GB RAM enough? Too little? Overkill?
  3. I’m looking ta buying this from Carrilon Computers in the UK. Has anyone had good or bad experiences with them? Are they good? Is there any other companies I should be looking at before committing to them?
  4. Does anyone have experience with the VST ‘Diva’, which is notoriously CPU heavy and would this spec run that ok, along with things like Nexus running?

Thanks in advance for you feedback.

Cheers,

Scott

I think with that setup you can pretty much run anything, within reason of course.
And, Carillion being a reputable company you shouldn’t have any reliability issues.

Just my opinion, good luck,

Mauri.

Thanks Mauri. Much appreciated.
