I have a file that always crashes Dorico on Mac (all updates and current system and Dorico version). It crashes directly when I export a MIDI file. The big crash screen comes up. Any ideas what is wrong with the file. It’s super straightforward with no special stuff going on anywhere. I’ve also tried copy/pasting to a new file, using a template, not using a template. Every time–crash at MIDI.

I believe this file is corrupted in some way. MIDI export crashes Dorico for me as well. There are very odd extender lines for lyrics. You should upload your Dorico diagnostics file immediately after you experience the crash for the Dorico folks to look at. I’ve included my diagnostic file as an example.

Have you tried exporting to MusicXML, then importing that file and exporting to MIDI?
If it works, there will probably be some tidying up to do.

your project file also crashes on export when I run Dorico on my Windows laptop.
So I’ve filed your case in our bug tracking system. Someone from the team will have a look soon.
When I deleted the lyrics in staves 1, 2 & 3 from bar 6 through to the end of bar 30, I was able to export to MIDI without Dorico crashing.
I bet this is the problem.

Edit: Perhaps not. Removed all extender lines, and still crashed.
Two other observations which are probably irrelevant to the problem, but I am mentioning them just in case:
All four players are labelled Piano (and sound like a piano) but consist of only one staff each. Even though I could find no indication that the second staff of a grand staff had been removed, is it possible that this might have an effect?
The lyrics in bar 6 include a caret symbol ( ^ ). As this is not usually employed in text (for speaking and/or singing), is it possible that it might not be being handled properly?
Changed the players to SATB (probably not soprano), removed the extender lines, and the caret symbol, and it exports without crashing.

I’ll bet this was an XML, made from a PDF on CPDL. 
One of the admins keeps making XML files from PDFs, and they are worse than useless.
Yes, the top part and 2nd part should be switched.
It only takes 5 mins to create a proper set of SATB staves, copy the notes, then copy each lyric line and paste it into the popover, correcting the hyphens/spaces. Delete the Piano staves; tidy up the layout. And Orlando’s your uncle.

Thanks everyone! Yes–this was from CPDL. I was making a piano accompaniment for the various parts to learn the piece. Didn’t realize lyric problems would cause MIDI failures in such a big way. I ended up exporting to XML, opening in MuseScore, exporting to XML there and that one worked in Dorico. A LOOOOOONG way around, but got there.
