Thumb down/up in organ music

Is there some suitable character in Bravura that would be good for this:

I could use some basic arial “x” but if there is a character (adding it as a Play Technique?) I think it would be better.
I’ve seen both x and + in old 1800s-early 1900s scores.
Gould does not write much about the organ, so no luck there.
What do you recommend?
TIA.

I use the multiplication sign × (U+00D7; you can copy it from here) to mean “times” for repeats. I think that’s better than a letter x for this purpose, as it’s a plain cross-shape, without serifs or contours. A playing technique would center it nicely, but you’d have to flip each one below the staff.
