Hi! When I started working on my project today, the following message appeared on the video track: ‘Thumbnail cache missing’. I have the file in Finder, but I don’t know how to import it into Cubase. Can anyone help me please?
P.S: I have a Mac (if that helps).
Hi,
Please read through Video support in Nuendo, Cubase, WaveLab and Dorico article.
If you delete the cache file (vcache here on Windows) doesn’t Cubase recreate it?
In Cubase:
- Open the (Files) Pool with Command+P.
- Scroll down to a folder “Video”.
- Right-click on a video file that is missing thumbnail cache (I don’t think that there’s an info telling which file it is).
- Click “Generate Thumbnail Cache”.
This should fix the problem.
Hi! I followed all your steps but when I got to `click Generate thumbnail cache´ it was greyed out so I coudn´t click on it. ![]()
And I couldn’t solve it…
If you have another way to solve it: ![]()
If you don´t have another way to solve it:
, because I really appreciate the time that you spend answering the posts, especially if you answered with a solution.
Final solution:
I deleted the video, then re-inserted it and clicked on ‘Generate thumbnail cache’ in the ‘Media’ section. Sometimes you have to do it all over again to solve problems😅 but it’s better if you can do it in a quicker way.
Really , really, thanks to all of you!
( Special thanks to battle angel, I didn’t know how to solve this until your message)
Hi, eh… It appeared again when I opened the project now ![]()
Normally, when this option is greyed out, ot means that Cubase sees the cache.
It looks like something glitched in the project.
Maybe try to make a new project and import everything from the current one? There’s 50% chance that it will work ![]()
Ok ,then.
Tried all of the solutions mentioned above but still doesn’t work, finally I converted the video format into a MP4 and then it worked, by using something like https://www.freeconvert.com/
