Tie placement

See attached pic. The first tie is a little on the high side, but it’s clear that the dotted note is the cause - no problem. The second one, though - it looks more like a phrase slur on the left hand side, and doesn’t look as though it is really tying the two F’s. I know I can manually move the end closer to the notehead, but I wonder if I am missing a default setting.

You are not missing a default setting, as far as I can see. I’ll check with Michael, who did all the work on ties, to make sure I’m not missing something myself.
