what is the procedure for tying a note to the next note?
Welcome to the forum, bakerbass. It should be as simple as selecting the note from which you want the tie to start and hitting T. Try this page in the documentation.
If you enter the first note and then press T for tie, you will not see the tie until you enter the second note.
To tie a note to a note in a different voice, you must Click/CTRL-Click the two notes before pressing T.
If you want two notes tied, but they combine instead (dotted half-note instead of a half tied to a quarter-note), you need to enter the notes with Forced Duration activated.
