Is it possible to add a tie to a note that is in a non adjacent bar (see attached example)? The note ties into first time bar but not across to the coda as they are non adjacent. I am sure there must be a way of doing this but am struggling to find one.

Your best bet would be to use an LV tie, accessed through the Properties Panel. You’ll want to adjust it so it points backward.
That just adds it above the note and doesn’t look right?
Hit F to flip it, then drag it in Engrave mode. This is a workaround, not a native solution, so it may take some work to make it look right.
Ok have sorted that thanks. Is it possible to add a text extension line to the start of the coda notes?
Unfortunately not. Extension lines are (IMO) a little lacking in options, at present.
You might be best manually adding a series of underscore characters there.
