Time Display

When I play a score and stop it, I see the time it stopped in the transport. It would be convenient to select an note, rest, or bar line and see the elapsed time.

Is there already a function for this?

I would use this for several reasons. Although I don’t score for commercials anymore, when I did, I lived and died by the time markers in my DAW. I imagine film composers would like this

I think the answer may be to set the playhead location and then I will be able to see the time at that point. I don’t know how to position the playhead, however. The manual says “Alt-P” will put the playhead at the beginning of a selection; but when I used Alt-P Dorico thought I wanted to run a script.

Can one not just choose a note and press Return or SHIFT + N to set the caret? Is that not the same thing.

One can also set the counter to show SMPTE readings to get elapsed time (position of the caret), right?

Putting the caret in different measures does not seem to change the current time. I also don’t know how to set the playhead in a specific position.

If alt-P invokes the script menu, move to plan B.

Select a note and hit P twice. (the first P moves the playhead to the selection and starts playback. The second P stops playback, but doesn’t move the playhead)

Hey, @Janus . Thanks. For me, one P starts playback, but PP sets the playhead and shows current time without playing. Perfect. Appreciate the assist.
