Hi there – after looking around on the web to see if there is a controller script for keyboards created by Yamaha, there still seems to be none out there from what I can see. Especially the likes of MX series. On the Yamaha Music London page, where you can buy one it still mentions one of the unique features is DAW Remote.
Since moving to Cubase/Nuendo 12 this functionality seems largely incompatible. Trying to create a script for these controllers is almost impossible. Seeing as Yamaha is Steinberg’s parent company, the reply given so far is completely bewildering.
Is there any timeline when we can download and install these scripts, so the keyboards we’ve invested in still operate as was sold?
Hi @m.c – Thanks for highlighting this reference – I found that earlier today, but this represents the situation as it was prior to Midi Remote implementation; so from what I can see is no longer relevant. If you have an older version of Cubase it still may be of use.
But for those of us who have migrated to a later version of the DAW, what we need now is some updated information on how to install a script that will work with Cubase or Nuendo 12 going forward.
I think that this setup should still work with CB12 and even the upcoming CB13.
However, I understand that you’d like a fresh approach using the MIDI Remote. I don’t think that something like this will happen, seeing what other manufacturers did with models prior to the MR. On Monday I think that the new Yamaha Montage M will be presented, let’s see if this one at least has this type of support. If yes, then maybe they find the time to build some scripts for their previous keyboard, who knows?..
When you try to create a remote surface, what exactly is the problem? No input from the MX in order to create the controls?
It is using dedicated own component, which you can still use in Cubase 12. The component follows Mackie Control Protocol in 99% (in the sense, for the same functions, it’s using the same MIDI messages).
So you can try one of the Mackie Control script here on the forum.
If you want to try the Mackie Control script, uninstall the Yamaha component first. If you would keep it, the component would load automatically with every Cubase start and it might even steel the MIDI Parts (so you couldn’t use them for the MIDI Remote). At least this is how does CC121 and all CMC series components work.
