Timeline View

At the moment, the distance between bars is equally spaced - regardless of changes in tempo. So, for example, you can draw in a rallentando (decrease) in tempo but the events will remain (visually) unchanged in relation to each other. The only change being that the playback line moves slower.

I would like to see an option to engage a view which was representative of real time elapsed. So, as in the example, a change of tempo would result events changing their relative positions. Decreases in tempo would show events becoming further apart while increase would bring objects together.

This is similar to the way ProTools handles the display of events v tempo. It’s a small thing but for those of us coming from a PT workflow, it might give a better correlation between what we’re hearing and what we’re seeing. Of course it should only be a switchable option - the default being the classic Cubase approach.

You can achieve this with changing the primary time format to seconds in the transport panel down below.

If you want to keep track of the bars insert an additional ruler track and set it to bars and beats.

Thanks for that Reco29. I see what you mean. However, in doing that, all my grid lines will become minutes and seconds. I still want my grid to be in bars and beats.
