Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction, as I am looking for online sources that help composers understand how to “tame” VSL sound library. I purchased the Duality Strings but am experiencing extreme volume inconsistencies throughout the different articulations.

I am using the expression map that came with VSL Duality Strings. I have played around with changing note value definitions but that creates inconsistencies in other parts of a piece. Even when I change the volume within Synchron for certain articulations, more inconsistencies are present themselves in other parts of the piece.

I know I can’t be the only one who has been through this! 🙂

Thank you,

citynoah

If it is a difference between longs and shorts, it is something I noticed as well. VSL says that shorts are naturally louder, but it is too much for me.

You can easily adjust this in each instance of Synchron Player, by lowering the shorts branch a little.

another way is to change the dynamics range for the dynamic controllers in the Expression Maps which I actually find easier.. My experience is also that shorts tend to be louder than longer patches but there are inconsistencies across the board (as there are unfortunately with virtually all vendors).
