One function I use quite often, is to have a ‘Record Stereo Out’ track where I would internally record whatever track(s) are playing through the Stereo Out. Simply by creating a stereo track, have Output ‘no bus’ and that normally ‘frees up’ out the Stereo Out where I would be able to use it as the input.
It’s wonderful to bounce a few tracks at the same time to sample it for whatever reason (for reversing, for example).
The problem is that when I did a clean install of Cubase 15, for some reason Stereo Out is not showing up as my an ‘Input’ option anymore? Does anyone have any clue?
I don’t remember having seen the Stereo Out as an available routing input for an audio track ever, but I could be wrong.
Whenever I need such a configuration, I used to create an intermediate bus/group, routing the track to be recorded and the eventual involved sends to it, before creating the audio track that should receive the bus/group audio signal.
But now (since the Render in Place feature appeared in cubase), I simply select the track(s) to be rendered and use it - with the Complete Signal Path as processing option in the Render Tracks window, if any sends are included in the audio path of my track(s) source.
It always was an option. The only thing you had to do was remove Stereo Out as an output and then it would show up as option for the input.
Yep, the trick to make a group/bus works too. But in big projects ‘on the fly’ makes it unnecessarily a few steps complicated. Especially if you want to record quickly a bunch of tracks already going to different busses.
It was always such as nice thing to just Solo the short piece of audio of the tracks you wanted, and simply record your ‘Stereo Out Recording’ track specifically made for this reason.
Ha ! This explains that, as I never even tried to remove the Stereo Out bus after more than 20 years of ‘Cubase audio’ usage, from which I’m not really able to help more. I use the Control Room, so the Stereo Out bus is set to ‘Not connected’, but nothing more.
At the end, I can only renew my ‘Render in Place’ suggestion, if you don’t need the record to occur at the same time as the playback.
I think @Nickimprov means that the output routing of the audio track needs to be changed from “Stereo Out” to “No bus”.
Nickimprov, my C15 allows me to do what you want to do. So your project must have a feedback loop. Check the Sends of the audio track and make sure all of them are empty.
