Toggling dotted notes: Dorico Elements

According to the Anthony Hughes video, I can tap the period (full stop) key to dot a note that I’ve entered. No problem. But he goes on to say that tapping the period key again will toggle it off. When I do that, the program adds another dot. Choosing another duration, also mentioned in the video, does not cancel the dot, either.

I’ve also read that double tapping a duration key before pitch will set up a dotted note. Not for me. In fact, it often (but not always) moves the caret to the next measure.

I’m obviously doing something wrong, but what? Are these only for the full Dorico, and not elements?

Hi, are you able to follow this information from the manual, or does it not work?
Elements user guide ref:

on the left panel, as I am inputting, I see the dots highlight or unhighlight as I press my numbers or period key.
There are Rhythm dot settings in Notation Options.

Otherwise I wonder if it is your time sig?

I’ll look there. Thanks.

So many options, so little time…
