Too many beats in a bar (Insert not working?)

Hi - I’m trying to correct the number of beats in this bar:

I’ve tried inserting a meter change both with and without Insert mode activated and neither result is correct.

The result looks correct to me with insert mode on: you now have a whole bar rest in your 5/4 bar, rather than 4 beats of rest. The whole bar rest represents 5 beats, which you can verify by adding notes to the bar.

OK. I didn’t know that a 4-beat rest in a bar with 5 beats indicates a whole bar. While we’re at it …

Apparently that applies to other meters of >4 beats.

Yes. That’s not just Dorico, it’s a general convention. In an otherwise empty bar, that bar rest represents the whole bar, no matter how many beats are in the bar.
