I use TouchOSC all the time for doing everything. I have dozens of common commands and macros I’ve built over the years. A few weeks ago, I noticed it wasn’t working anymore. I figured, no big thing, it’s probably lost a setting. I didn’t have time to dive into it till today. I’m stumped.
Android tablet running TouchOSC latest version (I tried a previous version as well)
Here is the routing: Tablet with TouchOSC → Wifi → TouchOSC Bridge → Nuendo Generic remote
I’ve used this exact same setup for years. Probably close to 8 years with no problems.
I thought maybe TouchOSC wasn’t talking to the computer so I did some testing. Tablet with TouchOSC → Wifi → TouchOSC Bridge → Protokol Midi Disply
Protokol shows that TouchOSC is sending correct midi and the Bridge is working. I just can’t get Nuendo to respond to it as a Generic Remote.
Anyone see this or have an idea on what is wrong in Nuendo now? I’m totally puzzled.
BTW: I am working in Nuendo 14.0.32
Kind of curious if it has somehing to do with TouchOSCBridge being a 32 bit app. Maybe Nuendo is now blocking that from being a midi port? It doesn’t seem that was as it is listed in nuendo Midi.
Hi,
Are you on Mac or Windows? Do you see the Input MIDI Port in Nuendo/Generic Remote?
I’m on a PC, windows 11.
The bridge shows as a midi input in Nuendo just as it always has. It just doesn’t do anything anymore. I have even deleted it and added a new generic remote and imported my xml mapping. Still the same. I emailed Hezler and they said that since protokol does see the midi from the bridge that the problem has to be in Nuendo.
I wasn’t sure if they might have changed something in the last build so generic remotes don’t work. I know they are phasing it out.
Hi,
Can you verify in the Studio Setup > MIDI Ports Setup > MIDI Monitor, of the expected MIDI data arrives?
First, thank you Martin for the help.
I checked the midi monitor. Nothing is coming in on The Bridge (from TouchOSC), but… Nothing shows for my X Touch One either. For the X Touch One, it shows Usage as being Midi Remote Controller. The Bridge does not show any usage.
The other midi inputs (Via a midisport4x4) display midi info fine.
My guess is that if it is set as a remote, it won’t show incoming data? Why I say that is because the X Touch One works fine. Not a problem at all but it does not show incoming midi in the midi monitor. It’s sort of like The Bridge is not being detected as being a remote, but it also isn’t detected as being standard midi input.
Maybe I backup my preferences and clear them to see if it acts differently?
Again, thank you for the help. This one has me stumped
I got it working again. I renamed my Nuendo_14_64 folder, and restarted. I noticed that my TouchOSC settings were gone in generic Remote. I also noticed that the midi setting were now Use Device ‘Direct Music’. It was Use Device ‘WinRT MIDI’ before. I created a new generic remote and inported my settings. It worked right away.
Hmmm. Maybe it was WinRT MIDI that caused the issue? I don’t even remeber setting that up. I’m just glad it’s working again. That saves me hours of menu diving.

Hi,
Yes, the driver might not be WinRT compatible.
