Track not focusing with auto record enable when dropping it from the VST sidebar

In Cubase 15 Pro, it seems like it’s not recognizing the setting to select Auto Record Enable, so when I instantiate a new VST it won’t automatically select that. I’ve checked the settings inside out since upgrading to 15, but it was working on every previous version.

Am I missing something obvious? I’ve got all of the options in the Preferences → Project & Mix Console ticked. First time I’ve ever encountered this, any help is very welcome!

It works on my machine. Just out of the box. Drag & drop a VST instrument into the project, and it is selected.

Option “Enable Record on Selected MIDI Track” activates this and it works here in C15.0.5/W10. The track must have the focus though.

That’s his problem. Autoselect last added item doesn’t work.

Right, that’s the real difference: Unlike C14, C15 doesn’t automatically select the track created after inserting a VSTi.

I have the same problem

It works on my side. Tested in a new and empty project.

Do you have any tips? I thing is a setting or something because worked also for me, doesn’t work anymore after I’ve reinstalled Cubase from scratch.

It behaves like this with everything. For example when I click a midi clip, the inspector on the left side should switch to editor, but doesn’t do it. Same for the mix console and everything

I too have the same problem. Creating an instrument track through the menu systems is OK, activates and record enabled, but with drag and drop does not activate or record enable. As this is my primary workflow its a tad frustrating. Was fine in Cubase 14.
