Track presets questions

I found I can record 32 tracks from my Roland TD50x. there is a preset to load 32 tracks but they all have the same input, so I have to change 31 of them. tedious. When I want to record the TD50x midi file playback and have it record thus, I’m not sure how track presets work. I saved such, but unsure of how to load, or where it is. Would the routing be kept? I first mistakenly thought making a project template would be the method but though I highlighted only those tracks, it saved everything. I see I should have deleted everything from the pool first but was afraid I might destroy the project source that had the desired 32 tracks. Is it safe to now delete those from the pool of the template, without harming the original?

if your concerned about Audio files, look the Audio pool and check the path column and make sure they are not the original files.

Track Presets (located in the left pane inspector saves all settings for the track type. This is for individual tracks.

I think you need templates, to setup once then use that to start everytime, right?

I have lots of projects with TD50x recorded midi files, so I wouldn’t be starting new projects, just trying to add 32 tracks with their routing, as doing 32 individually each time is tedious and seems wasteful of time.

Checked the pool in the project template I created and the path is all from the project I created it from. would have wiped out that project.

So I tried another method, importing tracks with the routing and that doesn’t work either, all getting the same assignment, unless you already have set up tracks with the assignments, Which if I had, then I wouldn’t need to import routed tracks. Seems unbelievably dumb that I should have to add 32 tracks to each project and rerout every time, because they can’t have a simple numbering system for adding multiple tracks.

Try create a template project first with routings, then use Import→Tracks from project to add multi tracks at once to your various projects. This will keep your routings intact.

I don’t find this to work. Here are 32 tracks, each with a different assignment = to their number. I can’t show more than one. Notice track 7 is assigned to mono 7. But when they are imported, it shows no in bus and none of them do.

Hi @robirdman1 I can confirm your same result in using Cubase 13 on Windows. It seems to be a bug but it is fixed in later Cubase version. I tried in 15 and it worked.

What a mess this deficiency has become. From the 32 imported tracks with no buses, I spent 20 minutes individually setting each ins and outs. Then when I played the midi track with them set up to record, there was no input signal. I am trying to remember the sequence of activities. I 1st have to change the driver from SL16R to the TD50x to record the 32 inputs via USB. So then I looked at the Roland presets and selected 32 and entered that. that resulted in all the presets having no buses again. So I deleted all and this time I used ‘add track’ as I had in the last project. This time I only had to reroute 31 inputs because the output was the same. Still I got no activity. after checking a lot or thing, I found I had used the 32 ouput presets, so I deleted all of those and chose the 32 input presets. As I proceeded changing them, I had the TD50x midi track playing and could see the activity as each track had the new route. when all 32 were done, I set to record and recorded the whole track and played back and it all together sounded just like the midi track as it should.

Since the other, melodic audio tracks go into the SL16R, I can’t hear them, so I switch the driver to it. I also have to set the main outs to its 17&18, as in all other projects. But now I hear nothing at all. The midi tracks which have audio outs into the SL16R sound but no recorded audio tracks.

I check the previous project I did this procedure to and all its tracks play. I can’t see a difference in configuration. I go to yesterday’s version of the present project, before recording the TD50 audio tracks and all those recorded audio tracks play. At a total lost, 6 hours spent As I had other problems with no solution today either, and nothing to show for it, just a setback, so fatigued.

I’m not sure what you mean be “switch driver”, are you saying you use one sound card to record and one to playback?

You also never mentioned any other spec’s.

thanks
