Track Time Base set to "Musical" by default in Prefs, but track archives still load in Linear

Hi,

Recently somehow, everytime I import instrument track archives or create new instruments, all their time bases are Linear. My default Track Time Base setting is set to “Musical” in preferences, always have been. Yet this keeps happening.

More interestingly, track archives. I’ve tried exporting my track archive where every track is set to “Musical”. Then, I re-imported that same track archive. All imported tracks are STILL in Linear.

I’ve tried removing the “Defaults.xml” file and let Cubase create a fresh one - but the problem still persists. Did the same with mediabay3.db. Problem still persists.

Can anyone reproduce, or have any ideas why this might be happening. Would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I don’t have this issue. I can load track presets where the tracks are then set to musical time base.

C15.0.30 on Win10.

That’s gonna need a step-by-step description of exactly what you are doing before we can try to reproduce it.

Okay well, for those who might be up for the task -

  1. Create new project
  2. Make sure “Default Track Time Base” is set to “Musical” in preferences
  3. Create one or a few new Instrument Tracks, any VSTi. Make sure their time base is in “Musical” mode.
  4. Go to “Export”, “Selected Tracks”.
  5. Go to “Import”, “Track Archive”
  6. See if the imported tracks are in “Musical” mode as expected, or “Linear” instead

I’m still trying to figure this out in the meantime too.

Okay, tracks imported and are set to “Musical” mode, ONLY if the transport bar is in “Beats and Bars”. If it’s in “Timecode” format, they all get forced into “Linear”.

Which is really weird because this has never happened before. I’ve always had my transport bar in “Timecode” format, and importing track archives are all loaded as “Musical” mode. Only recently this problem just started happening out of nowhere.
