Tracks shown in Play mode

Hi everyone,

I’ve a simple project containing one flow and two guitar players; I noticed that not both tracks are always shown in Play Mode, but only the one(s) corresponding to active layout shown in Write mode; is it correct? (i.e. if I have a part layout displayed in write mode I only get that track in the mixer, if I have full score displayed and both players included I see the two tracks).

Thanks,

Art

That’s what I expect it to do! And want it to do!

Hi @Buer,

I expected to have all tracks, instead, maybe because I’m a DAW (Cubase) frequent user more than A writing one so I’m still learning something new every day.

I wanted compare the two guitar parts (one with the complete notation, the other being a lead sheet) but listening only one of them and initially I activated Play mode having only lead sheet layout opened; I finally found the way to do what I wanted but I had to insert both the guitars in full score layout. I still was guessing if there was a way to have all track showed anyway (maybe in some hidden preference menu but I hadn’t found so far…).

Thank you for answering,

If you want to see all tracks and listen to only one (or several, but not all), you have two options AFAIK:

  1. Muting the tracks in the mixer (or in play mode) that you don’t want to hear, or
  2. select notes in write mode on the tracks you want to hear and press ‘P’ , only selected tracks are played back.

You can create as many different layouts as you need, to include different combinations of instruments. Alternatively, include them all in a Full Score and use the instrument filter to view some, whilst playing all.

Thank you @Buer and @janus, I finally used the Full Score way…

Sometimes I still am a bit confused among the various Dorico options…
