Die With a Smile Oaks 2026 second ver.dorico (1.0 MB)
I changed the ASIO drivers to the Steinberg one. No sound at all. The playback line stays put and does not move.
Hi @sttrumpet, by opening your project, it says that it uses a customised note performer playback template (that I of course don’t have:
Your project sounds as expected, on my system (it applies the default NP PT)
Try reapplying the standard Note Performer PT (from menu Play>Playback Template) or open the attached file (where I reapplied it), to see if now it plays back.
(The notes in the Piano have suppressed playback, which you can of course deactivate):
Die With a Smile Oaks 2026 second ver-2-REAPPLIED NP PT.dorico (1.6 MB)
If this doesn’t help, please upload here the Diagnostics (which you can create from menu Help).
I opened your version and I have the same problem.
Did you try the other suggestion I gave? (reapplying the standard NP PT)
Again:
Dorico Diagnostics.zip (1.2 MB)
And yes, I did try the regular Noteperformer playback template
Also, try to apply the Auto Playback Template. (While awaiting a response from the Team)
That doesn’t work either. I click on notes and there is no sound.
While awaiting, did you see the Videos about audio troubleshooting? Maybe you find something useful there. (But as I said wait for a response, based on your uploaded Diagnostics):
It sounds as if another program is grabbing exclusive control of your sound card. Try restarting the computer and opening Dorico (and only Dorico) first thing.
Thanks for the diagnostics, @sttrumpet .
I think I know what is wrong on your PC.
See, NotePerformer comes in 2 “flavours”, i.e. a VST2 version and VST3 version, but the VST3 version is just a wrapper which again calls the VST2 version of NotePerformer.
But from the diagnostics I can see that the VST2 has the file version 4.4 and the VST3 has the file version 4.5. So you see the file version.
So I would go and delete
C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\NotePerformer.vst3
and
C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST2\NotePerformer64.dll
and then run the NotePerformer installer again. How’s that going then?
Ok, that worked, but I had to reinstall the latest Dorico version. It works!! Thanks, Ulf!!
