Well, I’ve ended up back in the SLP chair for the past week or so phase aligning boom to lav
these are all comps of recording the talent on location (outside)
Anyone who has done this manually knows this is a very time consuming task…I have noticed that SLP12 will automatically move (in a snap-like action) small sections which are out of phase with just a tiny mouse gesture once the Transform tool is ready to move the selection. I’ve got Transform set to “Time-Shifting”/ Horizontal.
Anyone else notice this? @Robin_Lobel is that functionality by design? It’s a good thing.
I mean! Does the user manual need to be this terrible?
From the manual regarding Transform tool:
“Time Shifting: Time shifting applied to the current selection or layer, in seconds.
Time Stretching: Time stretching applied to the current selection or layer, in percent”

I’m getting clicks and pops induced when aligning phase; at the earlier selection boundary (Time Selection- full freq) the stretched/ shrunken audio creates a visible anomaly and clicks/pops are induced; Time Shifting set to 0.000s and Time Stretching set to 100%…(default settings)…do I need to modify those settings to get clean time stretching?
I guess I’ll guinea pig it, take the entire day experimenting and report back
OK, I just changed the thread title because I’m using the Transform Tool to resize audio for aligning phase.
Trying to figure out how this works. Seems users have to modify the Time Shifting and Time Stretching parameters every time the Transform Tool is activated, which is incredibly time consuming

Time Shifting and Time Stretching parameters engage and dynamically adjust while mouse motions are carried out
I find no online tutorials either…not any which apply to my use case…maybe my selections are too small?

amplitude going very high as I try to keep stretching/ shrinking little by little
to clarify,
_Time Select: a phrase (sentence)>
_Transform: stretch/shift audio to as close to in phase as possible>
_Time Select subtract last aligned audio from selection and set new selection>
_Transform: stretch/shift audio to as close to in phase as possible>
on and on, over and over
after some time, the selected layers’ amplitude redraws to distortion levels

Kids, first stop: get your volumes of the two sources as equal to each other as possible
because then waveforms will have similar shape…
Yep! That was it! Seems really obvious, but volume matching seems to be the solution for alignment issues I was having. Yes, audio still might need to be stretched/ shrunk down, but much less often and much smaller movements, thus less artefacts introduced
I’m also noticing that if the starting point of selection is closer to zero crossings that I experience artefacts less often. I know this seems obvious, I’m just pointing out what I notice while working. I’m also not saying if set selection boundary to zero crossing that there won’t be any artefacts
