I’m 75. Not very good with digital things. I want Cubase 9,5 transported to my new laptop (Windows 11). Got stuck. Is there a step by step tutorial? Lost my old eLicenser code. Where can I find it? Is the old eL system dead? Am I doomed to buy a new Cubase program?
Yes, but if you are using the USB dongle Cubase can see your license. You have to download the Elicenser Control Center.
No Dongle. Lost Soft eLicenser code too (bought it in a little box years and years ago)
The soft elicenser cannot be reactivated to a new computer because of the change in licensing.
If you registered the license in your MySteinberg you can at least buy an upgrade rather than buying outright. Presumably as you don’t have a dongle you must have been using the Elements version??
Elements upgrade from 9.5 is about half the price of the full version. £41 rather than £83 in UK.
Thx. Yes the Elements version. Thinking loud. Could I buy a new 9.5 version and then use one version on my old laptop and another one on my new laptop?
What new version would you recommend after years of using Cb El 9.5? Don’t want to learn everything again. It took me quite long to feel at home on this version. Created 20 own songs and recorded hundreds of covers. For me Cubase is like a miracle.
after comments, I close the topic.
SOLVED
You don’t really have any option of which number to buy, you have to buy 15, the latest and you can run 12-15 using the 15 license.
If Elements was sufficient for you before then I would stick to the Elements version. There will be a little bit of learning curve as you’re jumping quite a few versions but it’s not like a complete change of methodology, you’ll just find a few things moved around, some gui changes and some new features you can always ignore if you don’t need them.
And you can always install a trial of elements 15 to test it out and see how it gets on opening your old projects….there are a few plugs that have gone missing because of licensing issues with third parties.
