I’m transcribing a classical piece that has an A, Bb and C clarinet part for a single player in it. From the Setup > Layouts sidebar, I know that I can change the transposition for the entire part. However, is it also possible to create a layout for clarinet players who only have a Bb clarinet or a Bb and A clarinet (in which case the C clarinet part would default to the Bb clarinet)?
To clarify, optimally I’d like to keep the original version of the score that has all the transposed sections in it, but also include a transposed version.
Ah, I didn’t realize the transposition overrides work on a per-instrument basis. Thanks!
Although the change instructions remain, I saw that I can remove the instrument change warning in the layout options. For the instrument labels themselves I suppose I can set the scale to 0 or something.
Felix, once you (in Galley View) have moved the music from clarinet A and Clarinet C into the Bb clarinet, delete both A and C clarinet from the Player (that’s done in Setup Mode).
There won’t be any disturbing instrument change labels left.
Dorico 6.2.10 introduced the ability to hide instrument change labels. Without having to resort to hidden players in the score layout, I found a way to create a transposed layout that transposes different sections of music written for C clarinet to both A and Bb through the following steps:
Similarly, this also solves the problem of transposing music written for multiple different clarinets into one clarinet by hiding all the redundant “To clarinet in Bb” instrument change labels.
