Tricks for avoiding breves and creating lines in non-metered music

Hey y’all!

I am working on a piece for my composition lesson which, being a rather heady more 20th century style piece, requires extended periods without a time signature. There are two things I have seen in published score that I would like to be able to do in Dorico.

1. Have long held out notes be collections of whole notes and not a larger note value (e.g. double whole note or breve, longa, or maxima)
2. Have long dashed lines through locations in the score to indicate things which should line up.

Are these possible? What is the most efficient way of doing this? Thanks smart composers and Dorico users!

You can force duration (O) and tie these together.

These are coordination lines.
