Trim Does Not Work on Duplicated Tracks When Using Manual Trim Freeze

If I create a track,
write fader automation,
write trim data to the automation with the trim automation freeze set to manual,
duplicate the track…

the trim automation on the copied track is wrong. if I then freeze the trim automation there is still trim automation left on the duplicated track and each time I freeze the trim the same thing happens, “snowballing” the trimmed levels. Because of this I can only duplicate track if I am positive I am never going to use trim on that track.

Has anyone else had this problem?

It does look like it’s part of the same problem. I’ve arrived at it with quite a different recipe to you but the outcome looks basically the same. It’s been bothering me for years.
