Hi,
I wanted to replicate a a couple of triplets and they transferred over as eigth notes.
Am I doing something wrong, is my understanding incorrect or is it a bug?

Make sure you select the triplet brackets as well as the notes.
This is intentional, even if it’s confusing until you realize what to do. It’s a side effect of being able to convert notes to and from tuplets outside of note input mode, using the ; and : shortcuts.
And if the brackets and numbers do not show (as is usually done when many tuplets in a row), make sure the tuplet signposts show, and that you select the signposts along with the notes.
