Trombone slide positions

I am creating a learning resource for new trombone players. Is there a way of automatically adding slide positions when inputting notes? I know you can use the shift F popover but this seems time consuming. This feature is available in other notation programs via plugins.

TIA

I don’t have a solution for you, sorry, but I would like to offer a different point of view:

My experience as trombone teacher is that it’s best to be very sparing with indicating slide positions in the written music, or many of the students will take much longer to learn how to read since they’ll read the numbers instead of the music. (Same with writing note names with letters.) I’ll only write the slide position if it’s something unusual such as a passage where I recommend taking middle f on 6. If they have difficulty reading, I’d rather they learn the music by ear. IMHO, writing numbers on every note is not a good practise.

As a piano teacher (who also once upon a time played the trombone) I totally concur with this statement. Nothing delays a piano student in learning to read music more than putting letter names inside the noteheads. It’s a terrible disservice to the student.

Based on these two well crafted responses I will forget the idea.

Many thanks for taking the time to reply.

Best wishes
