Trouble creating a new chord symbol

I have a client who asks for some unusual chord symbols sometimes. Usually it’s no problem to make them from scratch, but this one is giving me a real headache. I can find all the glyphs and size them appropriately in the edit window (first picture), but when I click ok, it moves everything around (second picture).

Anyone know what I’m doing wrong here? Things seem to work fine until I start moving stuff around to position them correctly. Adjusting only the scale doesn’t do this, but once I move things, the results get scrambled some how. The font is Rhapsody. FWIW, I’ve made a couple of other symbols from scratch in the same template with no trouble.

This editing window is buggy and not WYSIWYG so sometimes there’s trial and error involved with positioning the elements correctly. One thing that I’ve found helpful is to check your Attachment settings for each element. The default is Bottom Right to Bottom Left …

… but in general I get more predictable results using Baseline Right to Baseline Left:

Worth a try to see if that gets better results for you. In any case, don’t worry exactly how elements appear in that window, just pay attention to how they look in the score and adjust accordingly.
