Trouble with dual CPU Xeon system and win10+11 & C13.30+

Hi,
I am a long time user, and since version C13.0.30 ish, the program crashes right after soundcard selection in startup. I have two dual CPU systems running fully updated Win 11 and Win 10, one with two Xeon E5-2699v4 processors and another with two Xeon Gold 6148 processors. If I turn off Hyper Threading in BIOS, then everything functions in Cubase on these systems (except Windows gets a bit unstable and this is really not optimal at all). I have tested the Xeon 6148 CPU in a single CPU system with Win 11 and Cubase C13.0.41 works perfectly.
Has anyone else any experience with this?

If I change the soundcard setting to default ASIO low latency driver it does all work fine. If I then disable “Multi processing “ in Setup, put the RME Asio driver in, it works fine, but export audio function causes crash.

The sound cards I am using are RME HDSPe MADI FX and RME UFX+ with latest firmware and software naturally. I have tested on fresh install of Windows 11, with all hardware stripped to even just onboard graphics and just soundcard. Same thing happens.

I have a ticket with Steinberg support, and they have no solution, but have sent it to the developers.

Version C13.0.10 and C13.0.20 -and all previous versions work C11 and C12 work fine, C13.0.30 -C13.0.41 don’t work with Hyper Threading on in BIOS. This is on the Dual CPU systems.
Is anyone experiencing this too?

Hi and welcome to the forum,

Make sure, the Audio Device’s driver is up to date, please.

Attach the *.ips/dmp file, please.

Mac: macOS Console utility > Crash Reports (or ~user/Library/Logs/Diagnostic Reports).

Hi, I have attached one of the .dmp files here
Cubase 13.0.30 64bit2024.4.29 13.29.34.935zip.zip (2.0 MB)

Hi,

Please, update to the latest Cubase 13.0.41.

If it still crashes, attach the latest Cubase 13.0.41 DMP file, please.

It still crashes in C.13.0.41 - this was after a new fresh install of Win 11. Sorry for not attaching that immediately.

Hi,

Thank you for the .41.dmp file.

If I understand your description correctly, the crash happens while Export Audio Mixdown, if you turn on Hyper Threading in BIOS. Correct?

Do you export as WAV or MP3? Do you export in real-time or offline?

Thank you for the details.

The crash happens when you export wav. This is when multiprocessing is off in setup and Hyperthreading is on.

If multiprocessing is on and Hyperthreading on, then the crash happens as you boot and just before the splash menu comes up where you see news and updates on the left, and on the right can select templates etc. You don’t actually get as far as into the program or setup that way. To get into the setup menu, you have to select Low latency asio driver (non soundcard) and then enter setup. The crash will also occur if you change to the RMEs from Low latency Asio driver in setup when multiprocessing is on
The RME units I have function in the latest versions on my single CPU Xeon system. Last time I tested on the single cpu system was with version C13.0.30
