Trouble with "Verification" on an Upgrade License from Cubase Pro on eLicenser

Hello everyone,
My first post here as I need some help please.

Long story short:

I have two Cubase licenses on my USB-eLicenser : AI 6 (very old) and PRO 11.

I bought an upgrade from PRO 9+ to PRO 14 but I suspect the eLicenser gets confused by the AI6 and fails to see the PRO 11 license. As a result, it tells me that I don’t have a valid license for the upgrade I want to activate.

I’ve made a very detailed ticket, and sent an email to support, but didn’t receive any answer so far and now I can’t open Cubase PRO 14.

I wish I could remove the AI6 from the USB-eLicenser but “the internet” says it’s not possible.

Any suggestions, please?

Many thanks,
Marco

AI 6 doesn’t matter. Just make sure you bought the correct upgrade. You said you had Pro 11 but bought an update for Pro9…

Bought it where?..there is no update from 9 to 14 specifically. There is a single update that covers from C11, C10.5, all the way back to C4 available on Steinberg site…is that what you have? Can you show a receipt with the code and email blanked (or copy and paste here the text that states exactly what it is that you bought)

Yes, sorry I meant to write 4+ not 9+ : Cubase Pro 14 Update from Cubase (Pro) 4 - 11

I’ve hidden the code, but this is the screenshot:

As you can see I bought it directly from Steinberg.

As you can see I have the Cubase Pro 11 License on the eLicenser (top Left window), and the update to Cubase Pro 14 (top Right Window), but when license Activation opens the window to run the Upgrade there are no upgradable Licenses (centre Window).
I’m pretty sure I have bought the right upgrade.

The annotation “Grace Period Eligible” might be the problem. Could you perform the maintenance task in the eLCC and run the grace period check in the user menu of the Activation Manager afterwards?

Thanks Martin,

What you’ve suggested updated the annotation close to the Cubase 11 license to
“Upgraded to Cubase with Steinberg Licensing”

Unfortunately, I still can’t manage to make the updater find any eligible license.

Ok, great. What Cubase entries does the Activation Manager show now? According to the screenshot of the Download Assistant, you already have at least a license of Cubase Pro 13 – maybe due to a free grace period update.
Since the license on the dongle has already been updated, you can’t update it again. So, you probably bought the wrong update (and could request a refund).

Note that the Download assistant does not necessarily reflect what licenses you own.

@MGen You should open the Steinberg Activation Manager and have a look at that.

Also, no license is required to download the products, you can simply go to the Cubase tab in the Download Assistant and download and install whatever you need.

Martin90 is correct. Because you had grace period to 12 at least. You either need a later update or possibly none at all and already have 14.
I think most likely you have 12 license and need 12 to 14.

Thanks everyone,
That was very helpful.

I’ve installed Cubase PRO 13, and now PRO 14 works too.
I’m confused by the eLicenser Control Center still showing only the Cubase AI6 and Cubase PRO 11 licenses on the USB-eLicenser.

So I suppose I could just ask for a refund from Steinberg now?

Many thanks once again!

Great to hear that everything works now.
Cubase 11 is the final version using the old eLicenser system. The latter doesn’t know anything about later versions. They only appear in the Activation Manager.

Yes, if you haven’t redeemed the Download Access Code you received with your purchase, you can request a refund. Section “Billing and Refunds” of the following page contains some information on how to do that.

Many thanks Martin and everyone!
Have a great day,
M
