True peak Metering Question

Hi All,

Curious why when I’m dithering a 32bit 96k file to say 44.1 and 16 bit dither in the Master section, and I have True Peak Analyzer enabled, its showing peaks, but my 3rd party metering with True Peak Metering (Decibel or others) in the Playback Processing section doesn’t show the same overs? Is WL Playback Processing not after the sample rate convert or dither? (The file has no peaks in its native 32bit 96k)

Yes it is.
“True peak” is an extrapolation; this is a computed guess, not an exact fact. Probably, your 3rd party metering has less sensitivity about true peaks.
