Trying and failing to get an external reverb to return to Cubase Elements 15

I had this working in Cubase 13 Elements but now in version 15 I can’t seem to get a Stereo input to send signal to the Stereo buss. I am sending from an efx send to an output buss to a Metric Halo 2882 interface with its own DSP reverb. I have the reverb routed back in to Cubase and see level on the Stereo In channel in the mixer but I can’t get that channel to send to the Stereo Mix buss. It’s not even an option in the strip. Clearly doing something wrong but what? Some AI Google results mentions creating an audio track and setting the Stereo In as an input to the track but that hasn’t worked either. Asking for pointers here.

Thanks for any suggestions

Hi, @Riley_Casey

Could you make screenshots of :

  • Your Studio > Audio Connections > Inputs panel with all the existing busses shown as extended (Extend All icon on the upper right) ?
  • The audio track involved inspector with its Routing section unfold ? I think that it’s indeed the only way to get this achievable, with the Elements version, without being sure…

This, to check the basics, at first…

The screenshot in the first post shows the Stereo In receiving level from the reverb patch in the Metric Halo 2882 so the patch to and from the interface seems to be fine. The problem I have is that I can’t get the Stereo In to feed to the Stereo Mix bus. As seen in the third screen shot the Stereo In has no output assign options. It doesn’t even have a solo button. It makes me think its not acting as input channel but something else I don’t understand.

Yep, as the RvbRtn MIO channel looks and is obviously an Input channel, not an Audio one. Rather strange, as I have always thought that they were available only in Cubase Pro version. Anyway, I would do this :

  • Create an audio stereo track,
  • In the Routing section of the newly created track, choose the RvbRtn MIO as input, as it should be among the available inputs of the dropdown list.

Normally, this should allow you to hear/record the audio signal coming from the RvbRtn MIO bus defined in your Audio Connections > Inputs panel, using this newly created audio track.

EDIT : Caution of any feedback ! be careful to choose the appropriate inputs outputs busses when proceeding.

Thanks for the suggestions. I had created an audio track previously but had not engaged the Monitor’ button. Now it works as expected. Seems a very convoluted way to accomplish this but perhaps it’s not a common practice.

It is easier in Cubase Pro. /marketing_speech
