Trying to create a percussion map but the process is very slow

So I’m trying to create a percussion map for Native instruments Butch vig Drums using Kontakt 8 (free version).

I’ve successfully mapped some of the notes to the correct sounds in kontakt.

Amongst other sounds I’m particularly struggling with Toms (medium) and Toms (low). Even though I’ve mapped them correctly theyre still outputting C2 (a kick drum).

So maybe I"m thinking that I’ve chosen the wrong instrument in the percussion map? (correct)

Note that in write mode, the instruments in the drum set are named Tom.1, Tom.2, Tom.3 etc.

I go to the Percussion map and they are named Tom High, Tom Medium, Tom Low, Tom Medium - High, Tom Medium-Low. Annoyingly they’re not listed in order of pitch.

I feel like the the naming convention should be the same in both the percussion map and on the stave so that you dont have to guess that Tom.1 = Tom high. Tom.2 = Tom Medium-High etc.

There are so many instruments to choose from within the list of the percussion map that I feel like it would be useful to be able to filter for the instrument that you’re writing for. As far as I can tell its just trial and error until you pick the right one.

Being forced to close the percussion map and then switch to write mode to check that the midi is triggering properly is such an incredibly long winded process especially when you have to check all the instruments in the drum set.

It would be nice to have a button next to the MIDI note in the percussion map that could be pressed to trigger that note so you dont have to keep switching between the percussion map and write mode.

I’ve figured this out. Technique needs to be set to open 2 [I want to be able to set midi note in kontakt to be the open hi hat sound but thats not possible within percussion map and I’m not sure if the expression map can be used to trigger specific midi notes?]

so i figured out how to get the open and closed hi hat sounds triggering i just wonder now if its possible to have the open hi hat sound cut off when its followed by a closed hi hat or pedal hi hat note?

any help is appreciated thanks.
