Tuplet Input behaviour

Hey Dorico-forum, it’s my first time posting here, i’ve got a really specific question about the inputting of tuplets:

Is it possible to deactivate this behaviour when inputting tuplets, that the next note after the tuplet gets “sucked” in? I know it’s made to conveniently write for example 3 normal eight notes, and then convert it to tuplets. However, I rarely use that method and always have to manually drag the sucked in note back, which is not a huge problem, but a useless waste of time.

Once the first note is selected (like in your pic. #1), press Enter (i.e. activate the caret) before entering the tuplet.


Then you can move the cursor to the the 3d note with the right arrow and enter the missing note.

Note: to activate the caret on the first note, you can also double click the note, or select it and press Shift+N.

You can also prevent the “sucking in” of the following note by using the insert stop position:
