Tuplet Popover - Increasing Flexibility

Would it be possible to change the delimiter between numbers to allow for more options? 5.1.70 makes the ‘3’ default, which is a timesaver. But sometimes, I want to be able to quickly enter multiple different tuplets in a row and it interrupts the flow of note input to have to use SHIFT to get a ‘:’. What if you could enter other symbols as a placeholder for ‘:’ to indicate the ratio? That way I could be playing a MIDI keyboard with 1 hand and create custom tuplets with the other without dealing with SHIFT.

I recently ran into this with a lot of duples in triple meters. So my proposal would be instead of having to enter “2:3” to get a duple, you could enter “2;3” (or even “2-3” or “2/3”).

This is such a small thing so I hesitate to mention it but it has slowed me down considerably recently and I think it could be simple enough to be easy to implement.

Welcome to the forum, Jesse.

Have you tried using / in the tuplet popover, in place of :? My belief is that it already works (as does Space).

This won’t work for exiting tuplet mode, granted, but arrowing right then left works for this.

I find the space key works exceptionally well for this, especially on a German keyboard, where all other option need the shift key …

Aahhhhhhhh I feel both incredibly stupid and overjoyed. I have trial-and-errored SO many possibilities but apparently I haven’t tried space or ‘/’ because they both work! Game changer. Thanks to you both.

Incredible. Years on and I still learn something new everyday – I wasn’t aware of this. Thanks for sharing!
