Tuplet shortcut key inoperative

Why do Steinberg refuse to allow me to report a BUG?

I don’t want to speak to a distributor in the USA, Europe or anywhere else.

A simple bug report to Steinberg …

The semicolon shortcut does NOT activate the tuplet entry button in Dorico 5.

A popup appears, you enter the note and they revert to quavers (or whatever note value is selected).

What operating system are you using, and what keyboard language(s) (the layout of your physical keyboard, the language/layout of the keyboard as far as Windows or macOS is concerned, and the dropdown within Dorico’s Preferences > Key Commands)?

These questions may sound like overkill but any of them might be critical in identifying the problem (or indeed a bug). For what it’s worth, on macOS this shortcut has always worked reliably (since Dorico v1.0) with my British English keyboard.

Hello RT,
can you describe the popup/popover?
Which icon do you see at the left of it?
If you could post a screenshot, we could easily identify it and help solve your problem.

This is by far the best place to report bugs.

All the team need are a clear set of instructions to consistently reproduce the problem - they can’t diagnose or fix a bug unless they can induce it. And also, an empty example project from you (in case they can’t reproduce on their system but can using your project).

Mac OS Ventura 13.6.9
Australian English Keyboard
Semicolon (standard Dorico “Start tuplet” keystroke as per the Quick Reference card (
It’s probably just as easy to click on the little button in the Write toolbar, so no major dramas … just one of the many minor frustrations in the transition from Finale to Dorico (which is generally looking pretty good).

(I’ll try the UK keyboard just in case)

(Some lovely quick responses too!)

Ahah!

I think I have the answer … you have to enter the 3/2 in the Popup box!

(Easier to use the button, really)

All good.

(And a lovely bunch of fora they are too!)

I’ve created a custom key command so I can press a button and it will automatically make a 3:2 tuplet. No popover necessary.

I never noticed that you can use a slash / as well as a colon : ! I just tried it.
This is a distinct advantage, not having to use Shift in the popover.
Thanks!

You know that you can also use a space?
For example.: 3 2
