Tuplets/ties

I’m sure this is really obvious, but I am stumped. I have tuplets as can be seen in the attached image. The lower voice is tied, and as a result the tuplet number is placed outside the tie. I did try and search here, but nothing came up ( I suspect I am not phrasing it correctly ). I looked in Engraving Options, but didn’t find how/where to adjust this interaction. To be clear, I’d like the tuplet numbers inside the tie.

Hi @rpearl, unfortunately the tucking index for ties doesn’t seem to exist (jet). See this old thread for more information (click on the blue text to show the whole thread:

I think for the time being, you need to adjust the position manually in Engrave mode.

Thanks - I thought/was afraid that might be the case. At least if I change one bar manually, I can copy/paste to save a little time. Unfortunately, it’s a pattern and texture that repeats a lot!

Much appreciated.

If the tie in the original image is replaced by a slur, the triplet numbers stay above the slur. After selecting those numbers in engrave mode, increasing the Tucking index property from 0 to 2 causes two of the numbers and then the third to drop below the slur.

Nice workaround! It does have an effect on Playback, but it would make input much easier.

You could mitigate the playback effect by supressing playback of the “tied” note.

Yes - and I’m not really worried about that. There have been times where I had to have two versions of the same score, one for print, one for playback.

Good to know there are options!
