Turn off vibrato

I would so much like to get rid of the vibrato added to the sound. I use the HALion Sonic SE, GM75 Recorder. When I play the sounds from my keyboard or click on the keyboard at the bottom of the edit window, there is no vibrato. When I play it back in Dorico, vibrato has been added. I have tried everything, but I must have missed some possibilities. I have read the forum answers, but they don’t help me. I have tried shift P and write ‘senza vib’ ‘non vib.’ but it doesn’t have any effect.
Any suggestions?

Does thie problem affect all projects, or just one? If the problem affects just one project, please attach it here so we can take a look (and a listen).

I just discovered that if the Expression Map is set to Flute Combi, rather than the default CC11 Dynamics, vibrato is applied to the Recorder (even if it has no setting for it). Hmmmm…
EDIT: The GM instruments use CC1 for vibrato (rather than dynamics)

I am afraid it affects all projects. I am new in Dorico, and I love it, coming from Sibelius. In Sibelius, however, you can turn vibrato off. It is especially woodwinds like recorders and saxophones, I have noticed it.
I am not an expression map specialist, and I have to go deeper into fratveno’s comment. However, my recorder is not set to flute combi.

Thanks a lot. I am not a specialist in expression maps, and I have to go deeper into it to try out what you have suggested. I have not set this to Flute Combi, but I use 6 flutes at the same time and playing longer notes creates an unwanted chaotic sound. But apart from that, I would like to get rid of, or control, the vibrato. Also with other woodwinds. Saxophones for example.

Ok. But you know where to change the Expression maps? (cog wheel in the VST rack on the right  )
The solution is to set it to a map that is not using CC1 for dynamics.
When I loaded a recorder Dorico defaulted to the map named CC11 Dynamics, which does not produce vibrato. If you get chaotic sound, make sure that every instrument is routed to it’s own MIDI channel and sound slot in the HALION player…

YES! Thanks a lot. I set the instruments to CC11, and it worked. What a relief…

Hi fretveno
The tenor sax, however, comes with a vibrato and when I do ‘the recorder trick’ it doesn’t apply. Is there another solution here, or is it in the sample? The tenor sax played in the edit window and/or on the keyboard gives me that vibrato, and turning the knob with the promising name ‘vibrato level’ does not change anything.
Best,
Peter

Yes, that default Dorico tenor seems to be a different beast. Bit confusing that vibrato level dial…(!) Here, it just works as a volume controller.

However, if you want the same (recorder) behavior you could replace it with the [GM 067] tenor… in HALION (I think… not near D. atm)

Thanks, I’ll try that.
