Issue:
Early 2024 I bought Cubase 13 Pro and installed it on my computer.
Beginning this month I upgraded to Cubase 14.
A few days llater I also bought, downloaded and activated Backbone, Groove Agent 5 and Iconica Opus on the same computer.
This week I downloaded and activated the Bouncy Vibes library (gift from Steinberg).
I checked my “Product Overview” in the “Show Steinberg Licensing-based products” section of the Steinberg Self Service.
And I see to my surprise that according to Steinberg- ALL my products are activated on TWO computers with the same name (except for Bouncy Vibes which shows only one time activated in the list).
This is obviously not the case, since I run everything on ONE (my only) computer.
Unless you really need the additional seat (there are three available) I wouldn’t worry about it too much.
Did you maybe add/change any hardware component or re-install or upgrade the o/s or anything on or just before 15th dec? That might have triggered the need for a reactivation as even though the computer is called the same thing it may be seen as different.
Ah, that is a good one… !
Well, I had the harddrive changed for a bigger one, because it was jampacked after installing all the extra Iconica libraries.
I had a computershop make an image and move the whole shibang, Windows, Cubase and all …
Can I fix this easily by deploying
“Deactivate licenses on unavailable computers”?
Probably not, because it’s basically two installs on the same compter ID
I first deactivated all my licenses using the Activation Manager on my computer.
Then I used the button “Deactivate licenses on unavailable computers” in the Self Service on the Steinberg website to get rid of the used seats that were connected to my previous harddisk.
Lastly I (re)activated all my products using the Activation Manger on the computer.
This was a pretty painless exercise. Kudos to Steinberg for this also.
But yes it is common on this forum that users ask for help with something and then credit themselves for the solution.
But that doesn’t really change anything, except for next time you let them find out themselves so the credits are justified
The only real value of marking solutions is that it helps with forum searches to find the threads with answers. From that perspective it doesn’t much matter which specific post gets marked.
That may not have been your intention, but actually you did. Whenever a post gets marked as a solution, whoever created that post gets the credit. Even if all the content in the post is about other folks solving the issue. That’s just how the forum stats work.
But like I said, the major value of marking solutions is for the forum search functions.
Why are you crying and name calling? I don’t get it.
It was a simple question and it was answered in a simple manner. I took on board what @almaelectronix said and understood from there. I even responded with “fair enough”.
Surely you read those posts before responding with insults?
Anyway, sorry if my post offended you, and if I had the understanding that @raino and @almaelectronix kindly injected, the question would never have been asked.
But name calling over something like this is pretty juvenile IMO.
@raino Thanks for this explanation. I did not know that statistics are being kept for this.
To be honest it seems a bit unlogical as we all know that it’s seldom that only one forum member contributes to a solution.
So should I have marked the four posts of Grim, Raino, etc.?
It was my intention to to ‘flag/mark’ the thread when and where the solution was reached together with the relevant details.
And I agree that also for others to find a solution it seems to me that it is best to mark a certain point in the thread.
But the fact that some people clearly jump to conclusions about why things are done a certain way annoys me nevertheless @Prim_69
