Two requests for the future

I love Dorico 6. Thank you so much to the team! There are two features-one I imagine is going to be a longterm goal, but I’m hoping the other is small enough that it could happen soonish…

easy(er?): It would be so great if we could filter by suppressed notes. I often copy parts and suppress notes until I have determined exactly what the new parts will be playing. The problem is that suppressed notes are easy to miss and even if they don’t playback, they print! As a final step I go through the score and delete suppressed notes, but they are too easy to miss. Please let us filter them. Thanks!

Second - box notation - We have cutaway scores. Yea! Now, please give us box notation without cumbersome workarounds. I know it will be amazing when Dorico gers to this. Box notation with proper playback will be a total DAW killer. Thanks for making note of the request!

I’m curious. Why do you suppress notes if you really want to delete them?

Because I don’t want to delete them until I know I want to delete them. I only know when the piece is completely done. Just part of my composition process.

The cutaways is really great! Now I hope to see a native box notation support as well. I believe the team will come out with an effective and elegant way when it’s done. Hopefully soon!

I typically have a flow specifically for that purpose. Sometimes I’ll duplicate the flow I’m working on, screw around with the music in it, and either keep the new flow or delete it as some ill-conceived waste of time.
