You can press Alt/Opt+hyphen to insert a hyphen into a single lyric, or Shift+Alt/Opt+space for a space. (Although Opt+hyphen doesn’t work correctly on Mac.)
But what I think you want here is probably an elision, which you get by typing an underscore between the two syllables.
