I assume changing the name of the preset would break backwards compatibility. Any projects using the EQ with this preset would not be able to find it anymore and would thus sound differently.
Strange indeed. Not only the Tube Compressor, also the Standard Compressor and the Maximizer show this behaviour.
Ha ha, Toots Hibberts is the man who invented the word, but I consider the whole genre to be one of the most influential and captivating musical styles, so having a major music software developer releasing this kind of mispelling is super silly
No point. – If that post upsets you, I can delete it.
I just thought it was mildly amusing to find that exact typo elsewhere when searching for it. And I originally searched for it, because I was curious, if it was a legitimately alternative spelling.
And I also learned something today:
Just because someone is a musician in one of the most chill/laid back genres of music, doesn’t preclude them from simultaneously being a stickler for accuracy.
More seriously: I also have quite a bit of grammar/spelling language accuracy fanatic in me. So I can totally relate. But over the years, I’ve slowly accepted the reality that typos and other language errors are ever-present. And a small subset even become the next version of language.
As my personal coping strategy, when a typo bugs me too much, I’ve taken to making properly named copies of such presets.
p.s.: I seem to recall reading, that we should report different bugs in separate threads and use the “issue” tag.
This is a user forum, and therefore Steinberg team members don’t read every post. Thus tagging things properly increases the chances that the right Steinberg team members will actually see a bug report.
I don’t see myself a stickler for anything, but as I clearly stated it’s silly.
And your first input was not contributing to anything constructive here, at least in my opinion.
Reggae is so much more than chill/laid back, it’s a whole universe and I still wonder why it is almost never included in the genres lists, when I do surveys, for instance the one from Steinberg I filled out earlier today.
Whenever I have posted this issue it always, more or less, turns out the same :
I post the “Reggea …” issue and then someone like you post irrelevant stuff, and I try to understand why.
If there is good arguments like the backward compatibility I get it, even I still find it silly, but at least there is an argument for keeping a typo.
I get you later elaborations but imagine you had started there and not with the spam
